Activities in Spring, 2009

In this year, a series of activities were scheduled for CUWO members in the first few months. Besides the regular coffee mornings in the first Friday in each month, we came up with some special programs.

It started with a Joy Luck Lunch at the coffee shop in the newly opened Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Shatin. More than 10 existing and previous members joined the buffet lunch gathering.

The weather in March made us feel so joyful. We decided to have an outing to the infamous Bethanie House in Pok Fu Lam. Around 20 members, friends, and family formed an impressive group. Our tour started with the previous cowshed and then museum and the chapel. Our tour was enriched by a free guided tour. The outing was wrapped up by a lunch at the Cyber Port. The link for the the whole photo album is posted on the right of the newsletter.

The April Coffee Morning was made yet another highlight in the first season. Our member, Joan Yu, demonstrated the making of Chinese steamed bun (Man Tou). She showed the whole process from measuring ingredients, kneading, to steaming. All participants tried the products including plain buns, sesame buns, and pumpkin buns. The cooking demonstration was turned into a light lunch with the congee brought by Anita Chan and the dumplings prepared by Alley Wong.
